MTA maintains more than 60 bus routes in and around Baltimore with one fare for busses, Light Rail and Metro :$1.35. Express and premium services cost more. A daily pass, with unlimited reboarding on any MTA system, costs $3. Weekly and monthly passes are also available, with discounts for students up to age 18, the elderly and the disabled. Metro - 410-539-5000
The 15-mile Baltimore Metro system is clean, quiet and safe. It stretches from Owings Mills through downtown to Johns Hopkins Medical Center, with 12 stops on the way, taking about 25 minutes to reach downtown from Owings Mills. Metro runs every eight minutes during rush hours and every 10-20 minutes at other times. Hours of operation are 5 am-midnight Mon-Fri, 6 am-midnight Sat, closed Sun.
Light Rail - 410-539-5000
The Central Light Rail Line traverses 22.5 miles from Timonium to Oriole Park at Camden Yards to Cromwell Station in Glen Burnie. Trains run every 15 minutes; the entire route takes about an hour. Construction of extensions to Hunt Valley and BWI Airport are scheduled for completion by fall 1997. There's free parking at many Light Rail stops. Hours of operation ar 6 am-11 pm Mon-Fri, 8 am-11 pm Sat, 11 am-7 pm Sun and holidays.
MARC - 410-325-7245
MARC commuter trains serve Baltimore City, Washington and eight Maryland counties. Weekdays 20 trains depart for Penn Station for Washington's Union Station between 5:10 am and 8:30 pm, and 12 trains depart for Camden Station, also bound for Union Station, between 5:25 am and 6:25 pm. Fares range from $5.75 one-way to $143 for a monthly pass. For $193 you can purchase a TLC card that allows a month's unlimited travel on MARC and on Baltimore's Metro, bus and Light Rail systems, plus Washington's Metro system.

Trains run daily from Penn Station, 1500 N. Charles Street, to New York, and from Penn Station to Washington, where connecting trains run to point south and west.
Taxi
When you're with out a car, Baltimore has fleets of taxis at you service. To get in a cab costs $1.40 plus $1 per mile in Baltimore City, $1.60 plus $1 per mile in Baltimore County. Many cab companies charge an additional dollar to dispatch a car by radio--well worth it if you want to be picked up form your home. Downtown, it's usually quicker and cheaper to hail a taxi on the street. Cabs are almost always found at the major downtown hotels. Here are the major cab companies and the area they serve:

Operates daily commuter routes to Columbia and Washington (via. Silver Spring) under contract with MTA. Buses run every 10 minutes during rush hours, less often at other times; limited services to Silver Spring and Columbia on Saturdays. One-way fare to Washington $3.35. Ten-ride ticket books available.

Sports Shuttles -
Oriole Park at Camden Yards is served by bus, Metro, Light Rail and MARC. MTA (410-539-5000) runs buses from Owings Mills, Memorial Stadium, Severna Park and BWI Airport to the stadium. Metro trains run every 10 minutes before games. The stadium is a five-minute walk from Lexingon Market Metro station, or you can take a free shuttle bus from the market. Light Rail offers a family fare (two adults, two children) of $20 round-trip. MARC passengers arriving at Penn Station can take the Light Rail to Oriole Park.
Private companies also offer sports shuttles. Dillon's Bus Service (410-647-2321) provides park-and-ride service to Oriole Park for Annapolis, Arnold and from two locations in Harford County; Merrywood and Fallston. Bill Rohrbargh's Carter Service (410-239-8000) operates shuttles fromManchester, Westminster and Reisterstown to Ravens games.
